Multi-Item Assessment of Physiognomic Diversity of Geocomplexes as a Comprehensive Method of Visual-Aesthetic Landscape Assessment

The paper presents the development of conceptual, theoretical, and methodological foundations a complex novel method for evaluating visual–aesthetic values landscape. novelty lies in combination methods assessing overall attractiveness landscape (geocomplex) view field (as seen from an observation point). analysis was carried out highly environmentally diverse fragment Małopolska Upland (central Poland). proposed evaluation is two-stage procedure. At first stage, visual units (geocomplexes distinguished on basis relief land cover types) calculated. assessment took into account diversity form content (shape unit, contrast boundaries, vertical differentiation cover, typological richness vegetation). In second first, extent determined using specially written computer program multiple points map assumed grid every 50 m. More than 3200 measurements were taken transect area 8 sq. km enclosing 77 km.
